If you are planning on taking a cruise to Europe you might be wondering when the best time of the year is to go so that you can get the most out of sight seeing, basically what this means is that you will get the best weather so that you can see more of the local attractions. But this is not a cut and dried question like it is with some areas where cruise ships go. The reason why it is not so cut and dried is that Europe is a rather large place. And because it is such a large place you will find the best sight seeing places during different times of the year depending on where it is you are planning to go. What this means is that pretty much year round you can find some place to go in Europe for ideal sight seeing because not all of Europe is affected by the same weather.
Here are some of the best times to go to certain areas of Europe for ideal sight seeing.
October through March:
If you are planning on taking a river cruise throughout Northern Europe, which would include France, you need to be aware of the fact that many river cruises are only offered during this time of year. The reason for this is that the weather is perfect throughout this time of year for river travel and sight seeing. Not to mention the fact that there are going to be less crowds during this time of year so the sights will be easier to see. Another reason that river cruises are offered during certain times of the year is that it allows you to travel to places that bigger cruise lines don’t go, and what this means is that during the summer months when children are present there is a larger demand for the funnier locations rather than the out of the way adult spots.
May through August:
This time of year is perfect if you plan on taking a cruise to the Eastern or Western Mediterranean. The reason that this is the high season, meaning the best time to travel is that you will have a greater variety of passengers from different backgrounds, which provides you and your family with a nice cultural mix. But the temperatures are going to be better than other times of the year, which means swimming or other water activities will be enjoyable. But you will also have to worry about bigger crowds and higher prices.
All year long:
One area that is really in season all year long is your Italian cruises. But one thing that you need to realize is that even these cruises have winter months but what they do is reroute the cruises to focus on certain areas that don’t have bad weather during the winter months. During the winter months your Italian cruises tend to focus on Morocco and the Canary Islands. Another part of Europe that is pretty much a good place to visit year round for sight seeing is Northern Europe. The reason why this area works for good sight seeing year round is that most of the famous attractions are indoors, which means that even if there is rainy weather or foggy weather you will still be able to take the tours and enjoy the sights. Some river cruises in Northern Europe are also available year round, but they are few and far between. But river cruises are a great way to see the many sights that European countries have to offer because these river cruises can travel rivers that larger cruise ships can’t reach, which means these ports are not visited by the more popular cruise lines.
