If you are dreaming of a cruise vacation to Bermuda the reality may be what you need to research before booking your passage on the next cruise ship out. While Bermuda may be the perfect island vacation to cruise to the savvy traveler should be aware that it is also one of the most expensive. Yet by understanding the costs of this type of vacation the informed traveler can make the best cruise purchase to fit their vacation needs. Here is an overall rundown on the cost of a cruise to Bermuda and what to expect to pay for a 3, 5, and 7 night Bermuda cruise.
It is important to note that Bermuda is more expensive in taxes to cruise passengers than any other cruise ship destination. The Bermuda Government has a $60 per person Arrivals Tax which is in effect regardless of the length of cruise ship stay. This is so much higher than other destinations that some cruise ships avoid Bermuda completely in repositioning because of this tax. There is also a charge of about $20 per night in Bermuda per cruise ship passenger in the high season (May through August) and $12 per night in Bermuda per passenger in the low season (from September). Passengers pay the taxes in their tickets.
In addition passengers should understand that cruise prices are no longer truly all inclusive. Once, cruises included transportation, lodging, and food with virtually everything except long-distance telephone service. Bermuda “extras” can now easily cost $1,200 more than the cost of tickets. These extras are per person, not per cabin rates; and can include all beverages, whether water, wines, beers, cocktails or liqueurs, and a 15% gratuity each time you order; exclusive onboard specialty restaurants, with a 15% or minimum of $90 per person gratuity; spas; bingo; use of gyms and fitness centers; photographs taken by cruise staff; casino usage; art auctions; golf lessons; tuxedo rentals; flower delivery; and shore excursions. While the easy access of Bermuda enables many passengers to literally drive to the port in their home city West Coast travelers will also have to consider the cost of airfare to reach their embarkation port.
Here is a breakdown by length of cruise, cruise line, cruise rating, ports of call, departure dates and prices. Please note that all prices are per person based on double occupancy per cabin. All prices were accurate at time of publication. Check with a licensed travel professional for up to date prices and available specials from your chosen departure city.
