When it comes to taking vacations they can be either miserable or a blast. You could have a vacation like the Smiths who are dragging their children along to somewhere that they do not want to be, or you could have a vacation like the Johnson’s who are having a great experience with their children and are creating unforgettable memories. What is the difference between the Smiths and the Johnsons? Why is one of them successful and the other not? Here are 5 tips that a family like the Johnsons would implement to make their vacation unforgettable:
- Tip #1: First of all, you will want to involve all your children in your planning. If the children are not involved they will feel as though they are not a part of the vacation and they are just being dragged along to something that their parents are excited about. They should be involved in the planning and preparation because then they will become excited about it and will be jumping out of their seams to go. While the Smiths might have to involvement at all from their children, the Johnsons would start very early and have their children involved every step of the way.
- Tip #2: Secondly, have a lot of meaningful activities planned. Maybe even more activities than you are able to accomplish. Then go with the flow. Have enough activities planned that there is always something fun to do. Make sure you never leave a boring hole anywhere. Be flexible with all your plans. If you have something planned but your children would really rather do something else, be willing to change your plans. The vacation is not about doing a ton of things but spending time together and enjoying each other’s company. So be flexible.
- Tip #3: Thirdly, if you want your vacation to be unforgettable, go to an unforgettable place. The Smiths might take their children to the downtown hotel that is dirty and have their children swim in the pool all day for fun. On the other hand, the Johnsons might take their children to Hawaii or China. They would take their children somewhere that their children would be able to explore, learn new things and see some beautiful sites. The Smiths go on vacation because they feel obligated and because that is their only motive. Their vacation will really stink. The Johnson go on vacation so that they can spend time together and enjoy one another’s company.
- Tip #4: A key part to making your vacation unforgettable is choosing to enjoy it and make it unforgettable. A major part of your trip’s “unforgettableness” will be determined by your attitude. If you choose to hate it, you will be miserable. If you choose to enjoy it and be upbeat, it will be fun no matter where you are or what you are doing. So choose to make it unforgettable. Do not rely on anyone or anything to make your vacation how you want it; it is up to you.
- Tip #5: Finally, take pictures, movies and write in your journal. Your vacation will definitely be unforgettable if it is saved for you to watch and remember at any time. Writing in your journal will make it unforgettable because years later you will be able to look back and remember all the things you wrote. You would never be able to forget it unless you throw away your journal or choose to get rid of all your pictures or movies. As long as you always have some type of recording of it, it will most definitely be unforgettable. It will last longer than a lifetime.
