Puerto Rico is one of the most beautiful places on earth, with great food, great things to see, and great people to meet. Let’s take a quick look at some of the sites you must see while in Puerto Rico.

  1. One site you must see while in Puerto Rico is Old San Juan. Old San Juan is an amazing place, stuffed to the brim with history and extremely picturesque. You’ll get to see 400 restored buildings dating as far back as the 16th and 17th century Spanish colonial period. In other words, it will be just as if you’ve stepped into a romantic novel, have gone back in time, and are finally seeing with your own two eyes things you could only imagine before.
  2. Now, another site you must visit while in Puerto Rico is Bioluminescent Bay. Yes, it’s just as magical, wondrous, and lovely as it sounds. Its brilliant colors will astound and delight your eyes in the daytime, but the nighttime is really when the Bay is at its best and most mysterious. On moonless nights especially, the entire Bay glows in the dark, creating a sort of fairyland that you can gaze at in silence.
  3. Another site you must visit while in Puerto Rico is the Culebra National Wildlife Reserve. When a place is reserved, it means that all the animals that live there naturally can do without being bothered by hunters, poachers, or even well-meaning but clumsy animal lovers. The Reserve is especially known, loved, and celebrated for its array of turtles and seabirds. You’ll not only get to enjoy these gorgeous living creatures, you’ll be in a stunning environment as well, breathing in the fresh air, with nothing but blue sky overhead.
  4. While in Puerto Rico, be sure to visit Luquillo Beach. This is a great attraction for families; be sure to bring your cameras and camcorders along, and not just because the entire beach is lined with tall, swaying pine trees. This Beach offers you and your children to ride horses up and down the shoreline as well, creating a truly memorable experience.
  5. If museums are your thing, be sure to stop by the Museo del Nino while in Puerto Rico. Your kids will love it, too, as the museum has been designed to encourage as much hands-on interaction as possible. You’ll get up close and personal to fascinating things, and experience a completely different culture and completely different time.
  6. For another museum-like experience, be sure to visit La Fortalenza while in Puerto Rico. La Fortalenza is this absolutely huge mansion (forty rooms!) that was forified in the 1500’s to defend against attackers. It has a truly unique feeling, La Fortalenza, because while you’re in an atmosphere of elegance and opulence and luxury, you’re always aware that scenes of bloodshed and violence took place.
  7. For some good old-fashioned fun, you might want to try the Rumba while in Puerto Rico. The Rumba is a very popular bar, a place that gives you the feeling of friendliness and coziness and history right when you step inside. You can interact with the locals while enjoying delicious beverages.
  8. Staying with the topic of drinks, make sure to visit the Bacardi Rum Plant while in Puerto Rico. You’ll get a generous, detailed, 45 minute tour of the world’s most gigantic rum distillery, and, best of all, try a few samples when it’s time to go.
