CB048022If you are headed to the Cayman Islands for a fabulous vacation, you won’t be disappointed in the activities available.  There are tons of great things to see and do, so get ready for a list of what to do in the Cayman Islands.

First, no one goes to the Cayman Islands without hitting up the SMB.  That’s short for the Seven Mile Beach.  This fabulous white sand beach is among the world’s best!  The blue clarity of the water is to die for.  So be sure to plan at least one day doing nothing but soaking up the sun and sipping on a cool beverage.

When you are ready for a little more action, check out the scuba diving.  The Cayman Islands are a great place to learn for the first time or to work your skills to see something amazing.  The Islands are known for excellent scuba diving due to the Cayman Wall.  Everyone knows that islands are really just the tops of giant underwater mountains.  Well, in the Cayman Islands there are parts of the Island that extend out into the water and then a little ways out, suddenly plummet to astonishing depths.  This makes for an excellent diving location.  People can swim along these `walls’ and enjoy the corral, sponges, fish, sharks, and tons of sea life.  There are also several ship wrecks that make for incredible diving sites.

Another great water attraction in the Cayman Islands is Stingray City in the North Sound of Grand Cayman Island.  In this amazing location people can actually swim with schools of stingray.  The stingray have habitually come here and been fed for decades, ever since the fishing boats began cleaning out fish in this area of the Islands.  The stingray still come here to be fed squid by vacationers.  People can interact with the stingray by snorkeling, scuba diving, or by floating around in a glass bottom boat.  In any case, be sure to hit up this awesome activity.  This is certainly a must do activity in the Cayman Islands.

For the vacationer looking for something other than water sports, perhaps a little golf will do the trick.  There are several courses available.  The Britannia Golf Club located at the Hyatt Regency near Seven Mile Beach is an excellent course.  It is the only Jack Nicklaus-designed course in the Caribbean.  What could be better than enjoying the game of golf while surrounded by the beauty of the Caribbean ocean and a gorgeous tropical climate?

Another favorite land sport for many vacationers is shopping.  There’s plenty of that to be had in the capital of the Cayman Islands: George Town.  There are plenty of unique items for sale.  Some of the favorites around the Cayman Islands are china crystal and black coral and treasure coin jewelry.  There is also a great variety of Caymanian art available as well.  So, don’t forget to take shoes for shopping!

One of the more unique activities available at the Cayman Islands is a tour through a commercial sea turtle farm.  The farm has turtles of all sizes from 6oz up to 600lbs!  The turtle farm also has other exhibits showcasing the native flora and fauna.  If you are interested in the natural flora and fauna, find your way to the Mastic Trail.  The trail is maintained by the National Trust for the Cayman Islands.  In other words, it is a protected area and has rich rewards for the nature loving vacationer.  The trail is about two miles long and is an excellent place to see natural iguanas, agouti, and Grand Cayman parrots.

With all the fun to be had in the Cayman Islands, there won’t be any bored vacationers – that’s for sure!  So pack your bags, make your list of activities, and head out for a fabulous vacation!
