Things to do in Anaheim besides Disneyland

Anaheim is a great location to visit, but unfortunately for that great city, people cannot seem to see beyond the attraction of the Disneyland park. If you are going to be visiting Disneyland this year, or going to Anaheim, it is smart to know what you can do in the city besides the parks Disneyland and California Adventure. The following are a few of the things you can do in Anaheim besides those mentioned:

  • Beach: Anaheim is in Orange County, and has some wonderful beaches. The beaches in Newport and Venice, and all along the coast line near that city are fun to visit, popular places, and provide great opportunities for sun bathing, surfing, boogie boarding, shopping, and dining. So, if you are in Anaheim for a whole week, and only intend to spend three days at Disneyland, spend one day at the beach enjoying the diversions of water and sand that are part of what California is known for.
  • Baseball: Just a mile or so away from the gates of Disneyland is a wonderful Baseball stadium, built for the Anaheim Angels. The stadium is large, and accommodates many, and tickets can be purchased for a relatively moderate price. So, if you are in the area during the season, chances are you will be able to catch a game. It is a wonderful experience, and one that your whole family can enjoy together. Kids will love the singing during the seventh inning stretch. Adults will love the atmosphere, beer, peanuts, hot dogs, and of course, America’s pastime.
  • Knotts: Just a few miles away from Disneyland is the Knott’s Berry Farms parks. There is a water park, as well as a theme park. This is a fun place to go if you have older children who may not enjoy the wonders of Disneyland as much as someone who is enamored with the characters and magic. So, a day spent splashing at Soak City, or riding larger roller coasters, and eating funnel cakes at Knott’s Berry Farms could be just the thing. Of course, if you do visit Disneyland, you may be theme parked out. However, it is a fraction of the price, and can offer fun for all ages.
  • Shopping: Anaheim, the heart of Orange County, is a great place to shop. The high end shops, lovely boutiques, and even street markets are all available in the area. You can visit malls that are filled with the top designers: Prada, Marc Jacobs, Neiman Marcus, etc. You can walk along the board walks in Newport and visit several specialty shops, and find great treasures, in clothes, d├ęcor, and other items. It really is a fun place to shop, especially if you have the money to do so.
  • Dining: Anaheim has several wonderful restaurants, and places to eat that range from a delicious taco stand to a high end, fine dining restaurant with white linen table cloths.

Remember, Anaheim is a wonderful place to visit with much more to offer than just theme parks!
